Is news trading actually worth the rule risk on a funded account?

I trade NFP and CPI on my personal account and that's where most of my edge is. Most firms either ban trading around high-impact news or void the trades.

Is anyone running a news strategy on a funded account successfully, or is the rule risk just not worth it?

I stopped. Not because I couldn't find a firm that allowed it, but because the ones that do tend to price it in elsewhere — wider spreads at exactly the moment you need them tight. My live fills during CPI were 4-6 pips worse than my personal broker. The edge evaporated.

There are firms with no news restriction at all. Filter for it here rather than reading the marketing copy. But test the spread behaviour on a demo of that same broker feed first — the rule permitting it and the execution supporting it are two different questions.
